Studio Policies for Patrick Lopez
When it is time for your lesson, I will email or text you 1 day or 30 min before your lesson. Lessons are 30 minutes to 60 minutes in length ( depending what you sign up for) For younger students, parents are often invited to watch part or all of a lesson to increase the student’s comfort level and the parent’s knowledge of the concepts being taught.
All payments are expected during the first lesson of each month and are paid to me directly (cash or check or via PayPal online please!).
In the unlikely event that I am unable to teach your lesson (personal sickness, inclement weather, etc.), I will contact you as soon as possible to reschedule a make up lesson. If no time for a make up lesson is available, your missed lesson rate will be prorated towards your next month’s payment. Should you not be able to attend your lesson, please contact me as soon as possible. I try to reschedule these lessons, but may not be able to do so. If you miss a lesson due to personal reasons and I am not able to reschedule, you are still charged for the missed lesson.
Students are expected to have all needed materials to their lessons. This includes your method book(s), any other repertoire currently studying, a pencil, and a spiral-bound notebook to keep as a lesson log. This log functions as both a reminder about what areas to practice, but as a communicator with parents as well. If the student has studied with a previous instructor and would like to continue with that particular methodology or book(s), I will use the previously purchased material in the lessons. After the initial trial lesson, we will decide which book is most appropriate for each student. As the lessons progress, there will be the need to purchase additional materials. These materials vary as the needs and interests of each student vary. Many repertoire pieces for performance opportunities can be provided by me.
I am very excited about this opportunity to work with you in this part of your musical journey. It is my goal that all of my students come not only to understand music, but to love it as well. If at any time you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you so very much!
